Labor Code 1771 – requires that the prevailing wage be paid for any public work contract in excess of $1,000. (Reclamation District employees are excluded from this requirement). Labor Code 1771.5 raises the contract threshold from $1,000 to $25,000 or less when the project is for construction work or to $15,000 or less when the project is for alteration, demolition, repair or maintenance work if the RD has elected to initiate and enforce a labor compliance program for every public works project under the authority of the RD.
